A Christmas Home Tour

Merry Christmas Y’all! As I’m typing this, it is only 2 days until Christmas and I’m feeling excited! All of my gifts are bought and wrapped, so the only thing left to do is watch Christmas movies and bake yummy goodies. I want to give you a tour of my home all decorated for Christmas before we have to put all of the fun, shiny baubles away until next year.

Let’s start at the front door! I’m so glad you are visiting today. Welcome! I made the wreath above from leftover ornaments and ribbon from our tree. I love that it ties it all together. I purchased the mat below from Pottery Barn. I searched high and low for a Christmas door mat that had some blue on it. Whew! It took some time, but I think I found one that I can stretch all winter.

As my grandmother would say, “Get in this house!” When you step in the front door you are greeted by our flocked Christmas tree. My aunt, who is a professional interior designer, taught me a great trick! When Christmas is over, buy packing plastic wrap and wrap up your whole tree. Then you can move it to your garage or spare closet without taking it all down. Then next year, it is ready to go! You just cut off the plastic and floof it up. We tried it last year and it worked like a charm! We only broke 2 ornaments. It’s a Christmas miracle! I even built a little plywood base with wheels and then attached the base of our tree. That way, it’s easier to wheel it around the garage when it’s in our way during the year.

Our dining room is to the left when you step in the door. I bought this wreath and pink glitter trees from the Junior League when we were first married. I can’t believe they have survived all these years!

I did a lot of crafting this year! I made the wreath below from vintage ornaments I purchased from our local antique store. I couldn’t resist picking up this nutcracker too!

I found these vintage deer last year at an antique store. They were in our home for about a week before the baby was busted by a rogue football. Luckily, I was able to find another set on eBay, so now we have 2 parents and a baby. They are one my favorite decorations!

Let’s move to the living room! We keep the fireplace pretty simple with decorative garland that I made last year from the same ornaments on our tree, and we will be hanging our mismatched stockings for Santa to stuff.

The last craft I made was to sew up this pillow last week. I really wanted a new Christmas pillow, but with all of the Christmas gifts and COVID, money has gotten a little tight. I challenged myself to make one with only the supplies I had on hand. I had this chair reupholstered last year, and saved the leftover fabric from that. The dark blue is from the chairs I reupholstered in my dining room. Now it matches the chair & tree perfectly!

Let’s head upstairs! At the top of our stairs is a yellow dresser I painted last year. You can see it when you walk in the door. I love it’s shape and I adore the Twiggy print that we found at an antique store. It never gets old!

Around the corner, is our playroom/game room/virtual learning center. I love how bright and colorful it is in here year round!

Well that’s it! I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
